How the Dictus Band Works

The Dictus Band works by gently lifting the front of the foot (dorsiflexion) during each step. This movement helps improve walking posture and reduces the risk of catching the foot on the ground, one of the leading causes of trips and falls in people with foot drop.

It connects discreetly between the shoe and ankle using an elastic strap system. The low-profile design ensures it stays hidden under clothing and doesn’t interfere with normal shoe use, making it a practical solution for both indoor and outdoor wear.

Wearing & Adjusting the Dictus Splint

The Dictus Splint is simple to fit and wear. It’s designed for use with lace-up shoes or footwear with eyelets or hooks, allowing the elastic band to attach securely. The ankle strap wraps gently around the lower leg and is adjustable for a snug yet comfortable fit.

Once fitted correctly, the splint supports the foot throughout the gait cycle without adding bulk or restricting movement. Its lightweight structure means users can wear it comfortably for long periods, whether at home, at work, or during outings.

Tips for Getting Started

Here are a few tips to help you feel confident using the Dictus Band from day one:

- Choose supportive footwear with laces or fastening loops for best compatibility.

- Adjust the straps to ensure the band is secure but not too tight.

- Start indoors, practising on even flooring before heading outside.

- Check for comfort regularly, especially after long periods of wear.

What Makes the Dictus Band Different?

Unlike rigid splints or more complex orthotic devices, the Dictus Band offers a lightweight, flexible solution that fits easily into your everyday routine. It doesn’t require specialised footwear or invasive adjustments, and it’s comfortable enough for long-term wear.

Its discreet design makes it ideal for those who prefer subtle support without drawing attention to their mobility aid. This makes it a preferred choice for many users looking for practical, effective help with foot drop, without compromising on comfort or appearance.
