Funding in New Zealand
We are fortunate in New Zealand to have a variety of funding available for assistive technology equipment such as Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People, Health New Zealand and ACC. These organisations do, however, have a fixed amount of funding for disability equipment support services and the demand for these is higher than the available funding. This means you may not be able to get the exact equipment you require, or you may face a delay in receiving the equipment you need.
Considering Self Funding
If you are in a position where you are able to purchase your own equipment, it maybe something you would like to consider - and we're here to help you find the right solution. Self-funding can offer greater flexibility and choice and this can be beneficial, especially for those who wish to invest in advanced features and technologies that enhance comfort, mobility, and independence or those wanting to bypass the often lengthy approval and waiting periods associated with funding applications.
Non-Complex Equipment
If you are looking to purchase something non-complex such as a toilet aid, shower chair or standard wheelchair, you can purchase these directly from our website or visit one of our stockists in your area. Complex Equipment
If you are looking to self-fund a more complex product such as a powerchair, mobility scooter or specialised wheelchair, we have a team of Technical Product Specialists across all of Aotearoa who can work with you and your therapist to ensure you find exactly what you need. If you are already working with an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist they can also chat with our team on your behalf if preferred - they probably already know each other as our team work closely with therapists on a daily basis to keep New Zealanders moving and independent.
