Q & A with Chris

How long have you worked for Allied Medical?

I have almost been with Allied Medical for 1 year and have been made to feel like an important part of the team, I bring with me 14 years of experience working in the sector and I wouldn't look back!

What regions do you cover?

I cover part of the Auckland region with our other TPS Kelly Jackson and I take care of the Hawkes Bay and Gisborne regions.

Can you tell us about a favourite moment working with a client?

One particular moment that sticks out for me is working with a client whos quality of life had been impacted for so long after having had a fall after having had a full knee replacement, this meant she was in hospital for a long time suffering from TIA's and other health issues. When we supplied the client their first powered wheelchair it couldn't have been more obvious as to how excited she was. More recently the client has now been able to get back out into the community, she has even been able to get back into her own kitchen after not having been able to for the last 10 years! The client couldn't be happier and was so appreciative for the work that was put in by everyone to help get her there!

What's your favourite Allied Medical product and why?

It is our power wheelchairs by Quantum that stand out as a favorite for me. Allied Medicals offering is truly comprehensive. These chairs are not just a product they are lifelines that impower our customers to navigate life's paths with confidence and freedom of mobility. The high level of quality and our extensive offering makes them a personal favorite for me!

What do you find to be the most rewarding aspect of working in the Assistive Technology Sector?

One of the most rewarding aspects is the opportunity to support those with disabilities to achieve their full potential, the use of this technology not only helps them to preform their best but also promotes independence and participation in the community. The most rewarding aspect is the positive difference made in the lives of others, helping them to overcome barriers and achieve goals that might otherwise have been out of reach. It is about empowering individuals and fostering an environment where everyone has the tools they need to succeed. Being able to see the impact that you are having in the community on a day to day basis really warms your heart!

What do you find most challenging about working in the Assistive Technology Sector?

It sometimes can be hard hearing stories of how someone has ended up with their disability, everyone's story is always different and it can stir up a range of emotions. It is a constant reminder for how important it is to take each day as it comes and to always live in the moment.

What's one of your favourite moments during your time with Allied Medical?

It really is hard to pick a favorite moment with allied medical because there is so many to choose from. The whole team makes this such a fun environment with plenty of laughs to be had!
