FAS Buckleguard
A simple solution for those who are able to escape from car safety harnesses and may endanger themselves or others in a vehicle. This strong and difficult to break cover slides over the seatbelt buckle to prevent the wearer from releasing the belt themselves. A caregiver can then safely and easily release the belt by inserting a key or coin into a slot when the destination is reached.

Description
Description
As per the standards for Restraint of children with disabilities, or medical conditions, in motor vehicles - AS/NZS 4370:2013, a letter from the user's prescriber should be kept in the vehicle where the seat belt restraint is used. The letter should outline the medical condition/disability reason why the Buckleguard has been prescribed as a seat belt restraint. We recommend the same process for adult users.
The Buckleguard may not be suitable for all users depending on their unique behaviours. There may be unintended consequences such as users sliding under the seat belt to release themselves. More stringent vehicle restraints such as vests may be appropriate with a number of these available from other suppliers in New Zealand. We encourage carers and users to discuss their needs with their prescribers to determine whether the Buckleguard is an appropriate product.
Each pack includes 2 x spacers and double-sided tape, which can be applied inside the Buckleguard to create a snug fit around smaller or varying buckle types. While the Buckleguard remains removable, the added spacers can significantly reduce movement and help keep the guard in place more securely.
Based on customer feedback, we recommend using the included spacers and tape, especially when the Buckleguard might otherwise become loose or be removed too easily—such as in busy transport environments like school vans. This simple adjustment can help reduce the likelihood of the guards being thrown or misplaced.
